Quick Cure Method (Build Entire Window and then Heat) |
|
|
|
Tool Required: Standard Heat Gun
Summary: The Quick Cure Method of Assembly allows you to build and solder your entire window first and heat each length at the end.
1. Cut the NO Days Glaze to the match the length of your metal came.
2. Insert the NO Days Glaze into your metal came channel.
3. Cut your Glass to compensate for the thickness of the NO Days Glaze. Each Edge of your glass piece must be cut short by 1/32” (0.030”)(0.76mm) so your overall length is short by 1/16” (0.060”)(1.52mm). For example, the Diagram A below represents cutting a piece of glass 12” x 12” (304.8mm x 304.8mm). Diagram B is a cross section of the glass, metal came, and NO Days Glaze (NDG) setup before heating.

4. Assembly your entire window loading your NO Days Glaze strips into your metal came.
5. Solder your joints.
6. When your window is assembled and soldered, use a heat gun and heat each length where your glass meets your came. You must heat each length where you have a strip of NO Days Glaze.
7. Allow your stained glass window to briefly cool before you pick it up.
Triple Glaze Design Note: When building a triple glaze stained glass window using NO Days Glaze, we recommend ventilation to allow for consistent air flow and prevent continuous heating of the space between the protective outside glass and inside glass panels. Failure to properly ventilate your window may result in a "greenhouse effect" thus raising the temperature of the enclosed space containing the stained glass window. Ventilation is recommended to control the temperature of the space inside a triple glaze window design. Ventilation of a triple glaze window is an industry standard building technique and ensures longevity of your triple glaze stained glass window.
